Portland State University’s department of Research & Graduate Studies recognizes PSU researchers, graduate student mentors, and research administrative professionals for their vital contributions to the University and to their fields with these annual awards:
Selection criteria and nomination requirements specific to each award are listed separately in the pages linked above. Awardees are typically celebrated at PSU’s annual Research Awards event, organized and hosted by RGS. It is at this event that awardees receive their awards and checks for the taxable honorariums included with their awards. The awards celebration is part of Portland State’s Research Week, which takes place in early May of each year. Research Week promotes the people and projects that make Portland State one of the nation's most innovative public research universities.
Nomination Overview
Nominations are solicited from faculty, chairs, and deans at the beginning of PSU’s Fall term. Staff are also encouraged to initiate nominations, particularly for the Research Administrator of the Year Award. The Deans approve completed nominations before they are submitted to a review committee. The committee comprises past winners and faculty from disciplines and schools or colleges across the University. Typically, no more than one award is made in each category. Review committees may forego granting an award in any particular year.
Submission Deadlines
Nominations should be initiated by Monday, October 24, 2022.
For Presidential Award nominees, the list of four external contacts is also due by Monday, October 24, 2022.
