I have studied glaciers in both polar regions and the American West. My specialty is alpine glaciers, as opposed to tidewater glaciers and ice sheets. Past projects have focused on water flow though glaciers and the effects of climate warming on glaciers. Other research activities include the physical and biological characteristics of cryoconite holes, landscape changes in the McMurdo Dry Valleys, and the human history of the McMurdo Dry Valleys.
