Phyllis Morris

After a brief career teaching science and math in parish schools in the United States, Sister Phyllis accepted a call to open a school in Chulucanas, Peru. She and three other Clinton Franciscans began their missionary work in 1965. She went on to serve as a pastoral assistant, traveling - often on a mule - throughout the Diocese of Chulucanas in the northern highlands of Peru. When in Portland Oregon she joined Sr. Mary Smith of The Hearth increasing awareness of Peru and its challenges.

Sister Phyllis Morris is a native of Clinton, Iowa, and a graduate of the former St. Patrick School and Mount St. Clare Academy (now Prince of Peace Academy and College Preparatory) and the former Mount St. Clare College (now Ashford University). Today, Sister Phyllis continues to serve the people of Chulucanas as Diocesan Director of Catechesis and Finance. When in Clinton, she serves as a consultant to the Peru Task Force of Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, which maintains a sister parish in Sapillica, Peru.
