Carla DiGiovanni was born Carla Jean Parsons on April 22, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Carl and Eileen Parsons. In 1967, Carla married Charles Anthony DiGiovanni. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Youngstown University in 1968 and became an elementary school teacher. Carla became a mother to Heather and Heidi and has five grandchildren -- Alexandra, Aaron and Ariana Chretien and Adin and Kyrian Barker. She was the most loving mother and best friend anyone could hope for, as well as a loyal wife and caring teacher.
Carla was passionate about children and how to care for them, believing in a philosophy of respect and honesty which was unusual for her time. Unfortunately, she never got to see her dream of publishing a how-to book on raising children. She wrote, "Our society spends so much time on reducing children's intake of fat, it is time we spend more time on our children's intake of life."
She is missed by many, but will always be remembered for her kindness and patience, for her laughter and beautiful smile that she shared often and with many. We love you and miss you.
