Alberta Louise Randolph

Randolph founded the Harriet Tubman Club and was a member of the Oregon Association of Colored Women's Clubs. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and deputy of Dahlia Temple, Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Having lost two daughters to tuberculosis, she was determined to alert the city to the dangers of the disease and to work for its eradication. In the mid-1950s, 70 cases of tuberculosis had appeared in the Albina community. In 1959 she served as Chairwoman for the Albina Area Tuberculosis Survey. She was known for speaking her mind without fear. She was active in her church and community, worked as a domestic, was married at least twice and raised seven children.
