On Saturday May 31st, 2025, the PDSB Deaf & Hard of Hearing department held our second annual DHH Jamboree at Hickory Wood Public School in Brampton, a playdate for students who are Deaf & hard of hearing in kindergarten to grade 5 to attend with their families. We were happy to see many Peel students and their families making connections with others in the D/HH community throughout the day. Families enjoyed a variety of activity stations-- between craft tables, face painting, badminton, parachute games, bubbles, bowling, bean bag toss, and chalk drawing, fun was had by all! A big highlight was the craft table, where students personalized and decorated their very own hearing aid containers.
Special thanks to community partners Def Events & Beyond and the Mississauga Public Library for setting up information booths for families to learn more about their services. A big thank you to: our planning committee for making the day run so smoothly; PDSB Media Technology Support Specialist Ray Melana for capturing beautiful memories in our video highlight reel of the day; and to our leadership for supporting the initiative, including Coordinating Principal George Soultanidis, who joined in for some of the fun.
Please read more in a recent PDSB article written about the event, as well as video highlights and photos from the event below.
