Our 8th Annual DHH Gala at Peel District School Board was a beautiful gathering in nature. Thanks to everyone who helped make the 2025 DHH Forest Gala at Riverwood Conservancy in Mississauga such a wonderful event. Thank you to: the students for bringing your positive energy and enthusiasm; our team of teachers of the Deaf/ hard of hearing (both current and retired) and amazing staff at Riverwood Conservancy for helping the day run so smoothly; FM Technologist Vanessa Reston for ensuring that both events were accessible for all students; and our Deaf/ hard of hearing department members for your unwavering support of the event, including Coordinator Cindy Harmon, Educational Audiologist Vicky Papaioannou, Coordinating Principals George Soultanidis and Erla Jackett, and Superintendent Claudine Scuccato. With over 100 PDSB students who are Deaf/hard of hearing in grades 6-12 in attendance between both days, our DHH community in Peel continues to thrive and grow.
On Thursday May 8th (middle school) and Friday May 9th (high school), students enjoyed a lovely guided forest hike (which involved feeding the birds), a gardening workshop where they planted sunflowers, a pizza lunch, and time to socialize with friends. Thank you to Jason Rude and the team at Supportive Hearing Systems for donating gifts for our students. We are very grateful for your continued generosity.
Please enjoy the video highlights, as well as photos from each event below.
