Our 6th Annual DHH Gala at Peel District School Board was a huge success! Thanks to all who helped make the 2023 DHH Forest Gala: A Walk in the Park at the Jack Smythe Field Centre such a memorable, joyful event. Thank you to the students for bringing your positive energy and enthusiasm to all of the activities, to our team of teachers of the Deaf/ hard of hearing and staff at Jack Smythe for helping the day run so smoothly, and to our leadership for your unwavering support of the event. With over 100 PDSB students who are Deaf/hard of hearing in grades 6-12 in attendance between both days, this was our most well-attended social event to date!Â
On Monday May 15th, our middle school students enjoyed a day of nature journaling, the Instincts for Survival game in the forest, a pizza lunch, and 'smores around the campfire. On Tuesday May 16th, high school students enjoyed the Instincts for Survival game in the forest, an optional hike or time for socializing and games, a pizza lunch and 'smores around the campfire. All students enjoyed beautiful personalized swag bags, thanks to the very talented PDSB FM Technologist and crafter extraordinaire Vanessa Reston! Thank you also to Paul Toner at Supportive Hearing Systems for donating gifts to add to the swag bags for our students. We are so grateful for your continued generosity.
