Maybe you are fond of your FM system and maybe you’re not. But did you know that there are many places that you can use an FM system outside of school? Let's explore some other situations where you might find an FM system helpful.
Places where you might find yourself at a distance from your teacher, coach or leader:
Karate or other Martial Arts
Dance
Sports such as hockey, soccer, basketball, baseball, volleyball, track and field
Cub Scouts, Scouts, Brownies, Girl Guides
Driving School or Driver’s Education
Language Lessons
Your teacher, coach or leader would wear the FM mic. You might need to remind them to mute the mic when they are not talking to you.
In noisy places, your friend can wear the FM mic and you will be able to hear your friend much better.
Shopping Malls
Restaurants/Fast Food
Bowling Alley
Car
You might not only want to hear your friend in a car but when you are taking in-car, driver’s education lessons, your driving instructor can wear the FM mic.
You can pair your FM mic (transmitter) with your cell phone via BlueTooth. There are instructions that come with your transmitter to help you set this up. Once you have paired your FM mic to your phone, you will talk into the FM mic instead of into your phone. You will now hear the person you are talking to through your hearing aids or speech processors instead of through your phone…..cool!
You can use the audio cable that comes with your FM transmitter instead of headphones. Just plug one end of the audio cable into the headphone jack on your cell phone, tablet, gaming system or computer and the other end into your FM mic. You can now easily hear your favourite music, videos, video games and movies with your hearing aids or cochlear implant speech processors.
You will need to see your audiologist or hearing aid dispenser; the hearing health care professional that recommended your hearing aids or cochlear implant speech processors.
Your hearing health care professional will write a recommendation for an FM system. Your FM system will include an FM mic (transmitter), audio cable, transmitter charger, receivers and instruction booklet.
Your family will need to buy the FM system just like they purchased your hearing aids or cochlear implant speech processors.
