In this course students will use social science theories to understand the foundations for social change. Students will identify various causes and effects for social change and the impact changes have on the individuals and groups that make up society. Students will explore global social challenges such as global inequalities, deviance and exploitation. They will examine social patterns and trends through demographic groups such as the baby boom and generation Z. Students will explore ways in which social science research methods can be used to study social change. Students will critically analyse how and why cultural, social, and behavioural patterns change over time.
Prerequisite:
Any U or M course in Grade 11 Canadian & World Studies, Social Science & Humanities, or English.
