Course Description

In this exciting new 2 credit University level package, students will earn both their CHY4U and CGW4U credits. It has been designed to take a project based learning approach, in which students will be free to choose topics of interest within the course curriculum for personal study. In consultation with the teachers, they will use the overall curriculum expectations and their topic to design their assessment in each of the four units in ways that will allow them to best showcase their learning. This freedom of choice will allow students to fulfill course requirements while exploring the topics which are most meaningful to them; rather than the teachers favourite assignments. This course is for University level students will and help them hone the key critical thinking skills needed for success at the post-secondary level.

As mentioned above, our ideal student is university bound and is someone who:

• Is looking to make their courses more meaningful

• wants to explore the topics that interest them personally, not the ones chosen by a teacher

• Is self-driven and takes initiative

• Is not afraid to try new things

• Attends regularly

• A variety of Field Trips including

  • behind the scenes access at the ROM that will allow you to handle actual artefacts from their collections

  • post secondary visits

• Virtual Field Trips powered by Google Expeditions

• Escape Room inspired activities powered by Breakout EDU!

• Many Collaborative Inquiry based lessons, assignments and activities designed to help you succeed both here at FMSS and at the Post-Secondary level
