Dear Parents

Many thanks to our whole community for supporting International Week, a wonderful community event. The week was a success due to the combined efforts of our teaching and support staff and parents. I know that the children had meaningful experiences, all of these will help to develop a clear concept of International Mindedness for all our children. Now is the perfect time to engage with your own children about the week, what did they learn about their own and other cultures.

A reminder that the school is closed on Thursday for a public holiday. We will re-open on Sunday as normal.

We have the school sports days happening in the next few weeks, please ensure you are aware of the event day so you are able to support your children.

And finally after a very busy week- I hope you all have restful weekend.

The children also visited the airport fire station and found out about the communication systems between the pilots and the watch tower.

A wonderful time was had by all and learned lots about transportation.

Refugee poem

Milepost 3

This week in Milepost 3, Year 5 have been exploring the power of perspective in poetry.

The children considered what a refugee is, in connection with our class guided reading book, The Boy at the Back of the Class. To deepen their understanding, we explored the powerful poem Refugees by Brian Bilston.

This unique poem challenges readers with two contrasting messages, depending on whether it is read from top to bottom or in reverse. The experience sparked thoughtful discussions about perspective, empathy, and the impact of words.

Our students brought the poem to life, performing it as a group, thinking about expression and the meaning behind the words.

Toddler Hut

This week at Toddler Hut, we had an exciting time exploring different textures through sensory play! The children had a blast mixing mud, foam and paint—creating squishy, gooey, and colorful masterpieces.
