As we conclude a highly successful and productive term, I want to express my pride in the achievements of our students. The energy, curiosity, and growth demonstrated in their academic work and extracurricular activities are inspiring.
This term has required an immense level of dedication from our entire school team. As we continue to operate with the knowledge of the upcoming closure of PDO School in six months, I must offer my gratitude to our staff.
We are all navigating this period of transition, which carries substantial personal impact for many of our staff.
Despite facing challenging personal circumstances, every member of our staff has ensured that their focus remains on our students. They have prioritised their commitment to the children's well-being and education.
Unwavering Professionalism: I want to personally recognise the professional commitment displayed by our teachers and support staff. Their dedication has ensured that all our children continue to receive the high-quality education and the consistent care they have always been accustomed to.
The Commitment to Care: The level of professionalism and selflessness demonstrated this term is remarkable. They have worked tirelessly to maintain a stable, engaging and nurturing learning environment during a demanding period.
Their dedication is the reason this term has been so successful.
We are committed to making our final six months together a celebration of our community and the excellent education we provide. Our focus remains on maintaining our high standards and preparing our students for their next steps.
I wish all our families a safe, restful and happy holiday break.
We look forward to commencing Term 2 on January the 4th.
We are excited to continue sharing our Personal Goals Padlet platform in our weekly newsletter to celebrate achievements together as a wider community.
We kindly ask for your support in capturing moments when your child demonstrates any of the Personal Learning Goals - whether at home, in the park, during outdoor play or in daily routines. For example, if your child shows collaboration while playing outside, you may upload one photo and select the appropriate Personal Goal folder (e.g., “Collaboration”).
Families are welcome to share one photo per week if they wish, highlighting a Personal Goal your child has demonstrated.
Please click on the Padlet link below to share your child’s achievement with our community. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to celebrate their out-of-school achievements and for us to reinforce that their Personal Learning Goals are transferable skills beyond the classroom.
Thank you for supporting the celebration of children’s achievements.

What a fabulous afternoon with the MP1 and Reception children on Sunday. Everyone sang their hearts out and they even managed to get the parents on their feet.
A huge thank you to all the teachers who have supported myself and the children over the past few weeks.

It was great to see the children of PDO School come together to enjoy our final concert of the year. Once again it was a wonderful performance from the PDO Choir and with lots of audience participation to complete the concert.

In this exciting unit, children will explore the world of construction in playful and imaginative ways. They will discover how buildings are planned, designed and brought to life using creativity, teamwork and different materials. Through hands-on activities, they will design, build, test and reflect on their creations. Literacy and maths will be part of their learning, from drawing floor plans to counting and measuring materials. “Busy Builders” helps children develop new knowledge, key skills and a deeper understanding of the world around them, all while having fun and enjoying the learning journey.

To mark the end of a very busy term, our Year 1 and Year 2 children joined together for a joyful morning of music and games. With Ms Liz, Ms Donna, Ms Julie Anne and Ms Caroline leading the fun, the children laughed their way through musical statues, musical bumps and even a lively conga line! They loved requesting songs and sharing their favourites with friends, creating a wonderful atmosphere of celebration and togetherness.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our parents for generously providing the food and for your ongoing support throughout the term. Your encouragement and partnership make such a difference to the children’s learning journeys, and we are truly grateful for the positive energy you bring to our school community.

This hands-on activity gave them the chance to appreciate how simple ingredients can be transformed into a traditional treat. The excitement didn’t stop there, as the class then moved on to preparing savoury delights. From mixing fillings to folding pastry, students discovered the joy of working together. A great discussion was had exploring the different pastry filling options that could be used at home.
During our Oman unit, Year 6 pupils were inspired by the Oman 3165 Project to explore how we can protect our natural environment. Linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals Life on Land and Life Below Water, the children researched endangered animals found in our region and wrote powerful short narrative stories to raise awareness of the importance of conservation.

Pupils chose to focus on the Arabian humpback whale and the Arabian humpback dolphin, learning why these animals are unique to Oman and how they are under threat. They drafted their stories, edited and converted them into digital text and, with teacher guidance, used AI tools to turn their writing into illustrated storybooks.
This project helped develop the children’s writing, research, creativity and digital skills while encouraging them to become thoughtful caretakers of Oman’s marine life and its natural heritage.
A huge congratulations to our newest Learners of the Week! This award recognises the incredible effort they put into their learning and the excellent ways they are putting their personal goals into practice. It's fantastic to see them growing and becoming such dedicated and confident learners.
