Spring Term 2025
Artist Statement
As an artist I learn new concepts and participate in activities that help me improve the work that I do. This course has aided me in improving and learning new ways to express myself as an artist. At the beginning of the course I learned how important light is and the huge role it plays in photography. I was able to experience this first hand when I created my first camera obscura. After participating in the camera obscura exercise I had a much better understanding of how light works. I was able to use contrast and light to complete my scavenger hunt assignment. Contrast and light aid in changing texture color and the overall mood of a photograph. There are new principles and elements of designs that I am studying so that I can become a better artist. I really enjoy studying new concepts that deepen my understanding about photography, its history and how it's used. The new concepts I learn about are valuable to me as an artist. These concepts cover a broad range of topics. For example, landscape and places, portraiture and the camera obscura. My goals are to refine the skills I have learned so that I can become a better artist. I believe in the aspiration “never stop learning” and express my gratitude to the professors and students that I continue to learn and grow with.
