(FEBRUARY 13, 2026) Portland Community College has two unions. A union is a group of employees. They work together to have better jobs. One union is for teachers. Another union is for other workers at the college.
PCC and the two unions are talking about pay and health insurance. They cannot agree. So a strike may happen next month. A strike means no work.
The unions want higher pay. They want help with health insurance costs. The unions say workers need more money to live. The unions asked for a pay increase of about 6% to 9% over two years.
PCC says money is a problem. It offers less than 1% over two years. The unions say this is not enough.
The college says student numbers may go down. Costs for health care and buildings are going up. The state may cut money for colleges.
A strike is possible on March 10. But talks are not finished. PCC and the unions meet with a state helper. They will have three meetings in the next 30 days.
