(JANUARY 16, 2026) At Portland International Airport, many people lose things. They lose wallets, phones, bags, and toys.
In 2025, the airport lost and found had 21,500 items. There were wallets, phones, clothes, bags, and IDs. There were also many water bottles and hats.
Cat Ren had a small blue toy. The toy was on her bag. The toy's name was Labubu. One moment, the toy was there. The next moment, it was gone.
Cat looked everywhere. She asked TSA workers for help. She felt sad and worried. She did not think she would see the toy again.
The lost and found office is full of items. There are phones, wallets, bags, glasses, and toys. There is a big box of stuffed animals. Small items stay for two weeks. Big items stay for three months. After that time, the airport gives items to charity. Some items are sold online.
About half of the items go back to their owners. Sometimes the office sends a letter. Sometimes people ask online.
Cat sent an online message to lost and found. A worker remembered the blue toy. The office had it.
Cat’s partner went to the airport. They got the toy back. Cat was very surprised. She felt thankful. Now Cat has two toys. She has the blue one and a new one. They stay safe at home.
