(NOVEMBER 28, 2025) According to the National Weather Service, this winter in Oregon will be influenced by La Niña. La Niña usually brings cooler and wetter weather to the Pacific Northwest, but this year the signals are a little mixed.
In many parts of Oregon, especially the northern and eastern areas, temperatures may be a little colder than normal this winter.
In the rest of the state, temperatures may change a lot from week to week. Some periods can be cold, but others may be more normal for winter.
Oregon often receives more rain and snow in La Niña winters.
However, this year the forecast says there are equal chances of above-normal, normal, or below-normal precipitation for much of western Oregon. This means the models do not show a clear pattern.
Still, the northern part of the Pacific Northwest, including some parts of Oregon, may have a slightly higher chance of wetter conditions.
Expect variable weather with some colder periods, especially early in the winter.
Rain and snow amounts may be close to normal, but sometimes storms could bring heavier precipitation.
Because conditions are not strong or clear this year, Oregon’s winter may feel “typical,” with a mix of wet days, dry days, and changing temperatures.
