People in Portland vote on park tax

(OCTOBER 25, 2025) People in Portland vote in November. One question is about money. The city wants a higher tax. The city wants money for parks. 

The new tax is $1.40 for every $1,000 of home value. 

Do you own a home in Portland? Then you pay about $310 each year.

The money pays for things like trash, bathrooms, and community centers.

If people vote “yes,” the parks get money for five more years.

If people vote “no,” the city does not get money. There are fewer jobs. Some parks close.

Some people like the new tax. They say parks are important for families. They say parks are important for nature. 

Some people worry. They think the city does not have a good plan.
