(OCTOBER 10, 2025) OregonRocketry is a group of people who love to build and fly rockets. The club started in 2002 and has members from all over Oregon. Some rockets are small and simple. Others are big and powerful, reaching thousands of feet into the air.
The group meets every month and holds many launch events during the year. Anyone can come and watch the rockets fly. Families, school groups, and scouts are all welcome. You do not need to be a member to join the fun.
OregonRocketry has a meeting on the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m. The meetings are usually online with Zoom, but sometimes they are also in person. New people are always welcome. To join a meeting, you can email the club at bod@oregonrocketry.org
There are two kinds of rocket launches: low-power and high-power.
Low-power launches happen at Garden Home Park in Portland. These are small rockets that are fun for beginners and families. The events take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The remaining 2025 dates are October 11 and November 8.
High-power launches take place in Brothers, Oregon and Sheridan, Oregon. These rockets are much larger and can go very high. The next high-power event is called “Turkey Loft” and will be held November 7-9 in Brothers, Oregon.
OregonRocketry follows strict safety rules. The club says there have been no serious injuries in more than 15 years of launches. Rocketry is a safe and exciting activity for people of all ages.
The club also helps teachers and scout leaders who want to learn about rockets and space science.
