(OCTOBER 3, 2025) Police in Central Oregon saved almost 50 animals. Most were poodles. Police arrested a 62-year-old woman. She didn't take care of the dogs.
The dogs are now at the Humane Society of Central Oregon. The shelter is very full. It has twice as many dogs as normal. Many dogs share kennels.
Police said the house was very dirty. The dogs lived in small cages. They slept on dirty blankets. The smell was very strong. Many dogs need medical care. Many dogs need brushing. Poodles must be brushed and cut every 6–8 weeks. If not, their fur becomes heavy. Their fur hurts their skin.
Police took 46 dogs. Many were puppies. Police believe the woman was running a “puppy mill.” A puppy mill is a place that raises many dogs to sell.
The animals cannot be adopted now. They are evidence in the court case. The court case may take weeks. The court case may take months.
The Humane Society asks people to help. People can adopt other dogs. People can foster a dog. People can give a donation at www.hsco.org.
