(MAY 22, 2025) Discrimination is being unfair. Discrimination is often by race or gender. But discrimination can be by age, too.
Sometimes an older person wants a job. They have good skills. But a business chooses another person. They might not have good skills, but they are younger.
Oregon might have a new law to protect older people from this discrimination. State leaders have already approved it. Now it waits for the governor's signature. Then it will become a law.
The law will make it illegal for employers to discriminate according to age. The employer will not be able ask a person's age until after an interview. There are some exceptions if age is part of the job qualifications.
