(MAY 1, 2025) Oregon has many interesting places. You can visit the ocean. You can visit mountains. You can visit a desert. There are forests, waterfalls, lakes, and rivers.
Oregon also has a big crack in the ground. What makes it special? It's big. It is two miles long. It is 15 feet wide. It is 70 feet deep in some places.
Lava from a volcano cracked about 740,000 years ago.
Oregon's Crack in the Ground is in the desert near Bend. It's far away from big roads. Visitors walk on a dirt path from a parking lot.
There are two paths. One path is inside the crack. A second path is along the top of the crack.
