(APRIL 17, 2025) Adventures Without Limits (AWL) is a non-profit organization in Oregon. It makes outdoor adventures accessible to everyone. Its mission is to provide access to outdoor adventures for all people, regardless of their ability level, socio-economic status, gender, ethnicity, or age. AWL believes everyone has the right to experience the mental, physical, and social benefits of spending time outdoors.
AWL recognizes that outdoor recreation is not always accessible, affordable, or welcoming to all individuals. To address this, it offers adaptive programs that are led by skilled guides. These guides are experienced in working with people from diverse backgrounds and are knowledgeable about adaptive outdoor recreation equipment. Their vision is to bring people of all abilities and backgrounds together to enjoy the outdoors.
AWL offers a variety of ways for people to get involved. Individuals can join community public trips, which are accessible outdoor programs open to everyone. AWL provides all the necessary equipment and expertise for these outings. No prior experience or specific ability level is required. Examples of activities offered include rafting, kayaking on places like Hagg Lake, rock climbing, paddleboarding, camping, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing .
In addition to public trips, AWL also designs custom programs for various groups such as community partners, corporate teams, municipal agencies, student groups, families, and other private groups. These accessible programs are tailored to help partners and participants reach their specific goals. AWL can facilitate a wide range of activities for these custom programs, including whitewater rafting, rock climbing, paddling, hiking, wildlife touring, and multi-day camping. The organization can help people overcome any challenges or barriers they might face in accessing outdoor adventures.
AWL operates under a special use permit issued by the Mt. Hood National Forest and Deschutes National Forest, USDA Forest Service. AWL is located in Forest Grove, Oregon. If you are interested in participating in an adventure, you can explore their community public trips or plan a custom adventure. AWL also welcomes donations and volunteers to support its mission.
