(AUGUST 7, 2024) Cat fans -- and fans of the movie "Coraline" -- will want to visit downtown Portland. There is a new outdoor art exhibit called "Coraline's Curious Cat Trail". Visitors can see a collection of 30 statues decorated by local artists.
"Coraline" was a 2009 movie from Laika Studio in Hillsboro. The cat in the movie was the inspiration for these sculptures. The purpose of the free outdoor exhibit is to bring more people downtown. An auction of the sculptures will also raise money for the OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital.
The cats are in many places downtown and other popular places in Portland. Visitors can use an online map or download an app for $1.49. In the app, visitors can "collect" cats to unlock rewards. The exhibit ends October 13, 2024.
