(JULY 24, 2024) Summers in Oregon are dry. Fires can start quickly in forests. They are dangerous.
High heat and high wind cause problems. High heat makes things dry. Things burn easily. High wind fans the fire. High wind makes the fire burn hotter, faster, and more dangerous.
More than 500,000 acres are on fire now. The fires are in Central and Eastern Oregon. Some roads are closed. Some people must leave their homes.
Firefighters are working hard to stop the fires.
