Robot factory will open soon in Salem

(SEPTEMBER 29, 2023) A company called Agility Robotics will soon open a big factory in Salem. This factory will make a special kind of robot. It's called "Digit". This robot can work with people in places like warehouses. For example, it can move things, and it can load and unload boxes. 

The robot factory is called RoboFab. The factory will open later this year. It will be more than 70,000 square feet. It will have up to 500 human workers.  And the robots will also help build more robots. This means the company can make 10,000 robots every year. 

Damion Shelton is a leader of the company. He says, "Opening this factory is a very big moment in the world of robots. It's the start of making a lot of robots that can work in businesses." The robots will help reduce problems, such as injuries, burnout, people quitting their jobs, and not being able to find workers. The goal is to help people live better lives.

Aindrea Campbell also works for Agility Robotics. Aindrea says, "With the ability to make many Digits, we can change how people work for the better."
