Hopscotch opens a large-scale immersive art experience in Portland

(MAY 26, 2023) Hopscotch a new place in Portland where you can have a fun and interactive art experience. It has different rooms with cool things to see and do. One room has a bouncy floor and colorful lights that move when you jump. Another room is like a rainbow cave made of plastic bags with pretty lights. There's also a secret garden where you can listen to secrets and record your own. In one room, you can dance and watch a video of yourself on a big screen. And there's a room where you can draw on the walls. 

The artists and designers have worked hard to make the place look amazing. There are giant murals on the walls by local artists, and each room has a unique theme. 40 artists have created 14 different areas to explore. They want people to have a great time and feel like they're in a special place.  They even have activities for kids, like a ball pit to play in. Some of the rooms have colorful lights and interesting shapes, and they're perfect for taking cool pictures.

“Everyone interacts with one another, that's the fun part,” said Sierra Naiser, one of the employees. “Other museums are very quiet, [everyone keeps] to themselves. This one is focused on engaging with your guests. The guests are engaging with one another, whether it's in the ball pit, or assisting each other with photos in the room. It’s kind of a community that comes together.”

The location of Hopscotch used to be a hardware store. Now it is this big art exhibit with hallways and different rooms. They even have a bar and a gift shop inside. You have to buy a ticket to get in, but once you're inside, you can stay as long as you want. Most people stay 60-90 minutes.
