Oregonians prepare for May 16 special districts election
(APRIL 28, 2023) After achieving the highest voter turnout in the country in November, 2022, Oregonians will vote in the May 16 special district election.
On May 16, 2023, all counties in Oregon will hold an election. May elections in odd numbered years select representatives for local districts such as school boards, water districts or transportation districts. The voter registration deadline for the May 16 election was April 25.
The following is a statement from Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan:
“I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. I am so honored to oversee the best damn election system in the country. We’ve got another election coming up on May 16. It’s time to make sure you’re vote ready.
“May elections in odd numbered years select representatives for local districts such as school boards, water districts or transportation districts. Use our Vote Ready Checklist to make sure you can have your voice heard next month.
“Voting in Oregon feels good. We have pride in our system because it is safe, secure and accessible. So make sure your voice is heard this spring.”
