(APRIL 28, 2023) Seaside and Manzanita are two towns by the ocean in Oregon. They will soon have new wheelchairs that can be used on the beach. The wheelchairs are special because they can move on the sand and are easy to use. They have tracks that help them move on the sand.
People who have trouble walking can use these new wheelchairs for free. This includes people who use wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, crutches, or canes. You can book a time to use the wheelchair online.
This is just the beginning of a big project to bring more wheelchairs to the coast of Oregon and other places in Oregon. The organizations hope to place a total of 10 wheelchairs in the region. In Lincoln City, people can already borrow beach wheelchairs seven days a week from May to September. These wheelchairs have big tires that help them move on the sand.
