A baby bobcat finds a new home at the High Desert Museum in Bend

(APRIL 28, 2023) The High Desert Museum in Bend has a new guest. It is a male bobcat kitten. It is about 8 months old.

People found the bobcat alone. The people called the state. Animals often leave their babies alone to find food. Then they return later. So they put the baby bobcat back. But another person found the kitten again. So the state put the cat at the High Desert Museum.

The bobcat came to the museum in October. It weighed less than 3 pounds. It has grown. Now it weighs over 15 pounds. It will weigh 20-25 pounds as an adult.  The museum takes care of more than 130 animals. It will sell chances to name the bobcat in August.

The state asks people to leave wildlife alone. Wild animals should stay in the wild, they say. You can call the state if you are worried.
