A skier rescues a man in the snow

(APRIL 14, 2023) Ian Steger likes to snowboard. He goes to Mt. Baker on March 3. There is new snow. It is fun. But it is also dangerous.

Ian does not see a hole in the snow. He falls. Six feet of snow covers him. He cannot move. He is scared.

His friends do not know. They do not see him fall. So they keep going.

Ian cannot use his radio. He cannot do anything. He waits.

Francis Zuber likes to ski. He sees Ian's snowboard. He stops. He digs through the snow. He helps Ian.

Now Ian is out of the snow. He is safe. The two men hug.

Francis says, "I'm so glad you're OK."

Ian says, "Thanks for stopping. You saved a life today."

Now the two men are friends.
