Portland coffee shop helps immigrants and refugees in many ways

(APRIL 7, 2023) Narut Nititham left Thailand in 2020. He came to Portland. He could not find work. He had no experience. But he needed three years of work to help his son become a citizen.

His life was not easy. Narut delivered food on his bike. He slept on someone's couch.

Now Narut works at a coffee shop. The coffee shop is Jubilee Hall PDX. Narut helps other immigrants and refugees. He helps them find work. He helps them learn new skills.

Khupsamlian Khaute is from India. He came to Portland in 2013. He started the coffee shop with two other people.

The coffee shop has English classes. It has citizenship classes. Portland Community College also helps to train workers.

Everyone wants a space to learn. Everyone wants a safe space. Everyone wants to feel welcome in Portland.

The coffee shop is at 12175 E. Burnside Street in Portland.
