Man uses drone to call for help

(MARCH 10, 2023) A man drives in the Willamette National Forest. The roads have snow. His car gets stuck.

He worries. His family is not home. No one knows where he is.

He tries to use his phone. He cannot call or text. There is no signal.

The man has an idea. He writes a text on his phone. He ties his phone to a drone. He flies the drone high in the air.

The phone gets a signal. It sends the message to the man's friend. The friend calls for help.

Remember: Some roads in the forest are not safe to use in the winter. Many cars cannot drive in the snow. Drivers need to tell people their plans. They need to bring extra clothes, blankets, food, and water. They need to turn around when the roads have a lot of snow.
