The state wants to save the Oregon ash tree from bugs

(FEBRUARY 24, 2023) The Oregon ash tree is in trouble. A little bug makes problems. The bug is the emerald ash borer.  The bug hurts Oregon ash trees.

The Oregon ash trees are special. They grow near rivers and streams. They help keep the water clean.

Wyatt Williams works for the Oregon Department of Forestry. He knows a lot about bugs and trees. He wants to stop the bug.

He works with many people. Together, they are taking seeds from the trees. So far, they collected over 90,000 seeds. They will use these seeds to grow new trees. The new trees can fight the bug.
