Oregon is getting warmer -- and that's a problem

(JANUARY 27, 2023) There is a new research report. It is about the environment and climate change in Oregon. The news is not good.

Temperatures are getting warmer in winter, spring, summer, and fall.

High heat is getting hotter. It is happening more often. More days are above 90 degrees.

Very cold temperatures are not happening as often. They are not as cold as in the past. More nights are above 65 degrees.

Warmer temperatures are dangerous. They can cause fires. Warmer temperatures take more water from plants and trees. They become drier. Fires start more easily.

Warmer temperatures also reduce ice and snow in the mountains. This is a problem. A lot of our water comes from the ice and snow in the mountains.
