Oregon is a popular state to see UFOs

(JANUARY 20, 2023) Sometimes people see something strange in the sky. It's not a bird. It's not a plane. They don't know what it is. So they call it a UFO. That means unidentified flying object.

Some people believe UFOs are spaceships from other planets. Other people believe UFOs are military secrets. Sometimes a UFO is only something simple. For example, it might be only a weather balloon. A weather balloon is a hot air balloon. It has equipment to study weather.

There is a new book about UFOs in the United States from 2001 to 2020. The book says 4,239 people reported a UFO in Oregon during that time. That makes Oregon the 13th state in the country for the number of UFOs. In other words, only 12 states reported more UFOs.

In fact, an Oregon city has a UFO festival every year. It's in McMinnville in May. People give speeches and share stories. Some believe in UFOs. Some just think they are fun.
