Multnomah County might stop sales of tobacco with flavors

(DECEMBER 9, 2022) Multnomah County includes Portland and some other cities. The county might have a new law. The new law says that stores cannot sell tobacco with flavors.

It will be OK to use tobacco with flavors. The new law only stops sales.

The county wants fewer people to smoke. It wants everyone to have good health. It wants to help children. They like flavors like fruits and mints. The county does not want them to start using tobacco with flavors.

The county makes its final decision on December 15, 2022. If it passes, then the law begins in 2024.
