COVID in Oregon — by the numbers

(OCTOBER 28, 2022) Students are going to school. Workers are returning to the office. People are taking vacations. They are going to movies and concerts. Many people are eating at restaurants again. Many people are living with COVID. They are trying to stay safe. And they are trying to do things again.

However, COVID numbers are still important. There are small changes. Here is a report from the government. It shows information from last week and the week before last week:

  • New cases of COVID last week in Oregon: 2,701. This number is less than the week before (3,268).
(Most people believe the real number of cases is much higher. Why? Many people test at home, and they don't report their results.)

  • New deaths from COVID last week in Oregon: 11. This number is less than the week before (17).

  • People in the hospital with COVID last week in Oregon: 238. This number is less than the week before (247).

  • Visits to the emergency room because of COVID last week in Oregon: 787. This number is less than the week before (834).

  • Percent of people in Oregon with at least one vaccination: 85.4% This number is almost the same as the week before (85.3%).

  • Percent of people in Oregon with the new booster: 7.4%. This number is almost the same as the week before (7.3%).
