Portland wants you to give this park a new name

(AUGUST 19, 2022) Portland has a park in Southwest Portland. The city wants to change its name. It is asking for suggestions.

The park' name was Custer Park. "Custer" is the name of a man. People remember his violent actions against indigenous people (Native Americans). The city does not want to honor Custer or what he did anymore.

The city wanted to change the name two years ago. It gave the park the temporary name of "A Park". Now the city wants to give the park a permanent name.

People can submit suggestions by 5pm, Monday, August 22, 2022. Here is a link to the form: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MB9W8W8
