More mosquitos than usual this year

(JULY 15, 2022) There are bees. There are flies. And then there are mosquitos. They are not usually a problem in Oregon. But this year is different. There will be more mosquitos than usual.

Why? The wet spring is the reason. The unusual weather helped mosquitos grow. And more are coming.

Mosquitos can bite people. The bites itch. But they can be worse. Sometimes mosquitos spread diseases, such as malaria or West Nile virus.

You can help. Don't leave pools of water in your yard. Fix holes in windows and doors. And if you see a dead crow, tell the county. Why? Dead crows bring mosquitos.

Why do we have more mosquitos this year? The reason is climate change.
