(MAY 6 2022) Divers swim in lakes, rivers, and oceans. They find things underwater. Often it is only a small thing, like a cell phone. Sometimes it is a large thing, like a car. Sometimes it is the body of a missing person and an answer to a mystery.
Douglas Bishop and Jaren Leisek are divers. They are a team from Bend, Oregon. The name of their team is Adventures with Purpose.
They used to look for missing things. It was only a hobby. They wanted to clean the environment. They wanted to return lost things.
Now they look for missing people. So far, the team has helped to solve 26 cases of missing people. "We go all over the country," says Bishop.
And they are volunteers. They work for free. They use donations, clothing sales, and YouTube clicks to pay for things.
"I want to help so many families," says Bishop. "It's a positive thing."
They start with sonar. It uses sound to find things underwater. Then they dive into the water. They look closer. If they find something, police help.
The team has a YouTube Channel. You can watch the team. You can see what they find.
