Small plane hits woman in kayak on Willamette River

(AUGUST 8, 2021) On August 4, 2021, a small plane injured a woman in a kayak in Yamhill County near Fairfield.

A man from Hillsboro had landed on Lower Lambert Bar in the Willamette River. The Lower Lambert Bar is a raised area of gravel in the Willamette River like a small island.

The man said he has done this many times. He enjoys time at the river. Then he returns to his plane and takes off from the gravel bar.

That's when the plane hit the woman in the kayak. The woman had serious injuries. However, she is expected to survive. The man is cooperating with police.
