Crater Lake National Park is open

(MAY 31, 2021) Crater Lake National Park is in Southern Oregon. It is a popular place to visit. Many people like to go in the summer.

The park was a volcano. It exploded 7,000-8,000 years ago. The top of the volcano fell. Now it is a very deep lake. It is the deepest lake in the United States.

The volcano is tall. So there is snow much of the year. The roads are often closed to cars.

Now all entrances are open early this year because of warm temperatures. The road on the west side of the volcano is also open. However, the road on the east side of the volcano is still closed. There is still snow on some roads and trails.

People like to look at the lake from the road. Sometimes clouds hide the lake. Visitors can check this park webcam first.
