A surprise vaccine in the snow

(FEBRUARY 1, 2021) A vaccine for COVID-19 is now available. However, there is not enough for everyone yet. Who gets it first? The state of Oregon says:

  • Hospital workers

  • Nursing home workers

  • Emergency workers

  • Old people

  • Teachers and school workers

However, something unusual happened near Grants Pass. There was a snowstorm last week. Some health workers got stuck on the road in traffic.

The health workers had the vaccine with them. But the vaccine does not last a long time. It expires in a short time.

The health workers did not want to waste the vaccines. So they went from car to car. They gave shots to people in their cars in the snowstorm.

People were happy to get the vaccine. Workers were happy, too. They did not waste the medicine.
