(JANUARY 4, 2021) People find strange things on beaches. It is usually marine life (like the exploding whale). It was something stranger last month.
People found several bags of chia seeds. The bags were on the beach near Florence and Newport. Another person saw a broken shipping container.
Where did these things come from? Oregon Parks Department is not sure. Maybe the container fell off a ship. Maybe the container broke, and the bags fell in the water.
The seeds are not dangerous. But they are difficult to move. They become bigger and heavier in water.
