(DECEMBER 5, 2020) Election Day was November 3. People voted in Oregon and across the country. Yesterday, Oregon certified the results of its election. That means that that state officials said, yes, the results are true and accurate.
The election was a big one. In fact, it was the biggest ever. About 2.4 million people voted in Oregon. That is more than the 2 million in 2016 or the 1.8 million in 2008. It's a new record.
Bev Clarno is the Oregon Secretary of State. She is responsible for the election results. She says, "I am so proud of the work all of our election officials do every day to ensure that our democracy is safe and secure. Voters can rest assured that their votes count and that our system remains one of the most accessible in the nation.”
Among the results is the president of the United States. In Oregon, voters chose Joe Biden. He received 56.9% of the votes; Donald Trump received only 40.7% of the votes.
