Washington County elects first Black and Muslim commissioner

(NOVEMBER 7, 2020) Election Day was last week. People in the United States chose a new leader. Joe Biden is president. Kamala Harris is vice president. She is the first woman to be vice president. She is also Black and South Asian.

People in Washington County chose a new leader, too. Nafisa Fai is county commissioner. Fai is the first Black person with this job in Washington County. She is also the first Muslim with this job in Washington County.

Fai owns a small business. She is a public health expert. She lives in Aloha with her husband and three children.
