(OCTOBER 9, 2020) Oregon leaders worry. Workers at a plant store in Corvallis find a spotted lanternfly. It is dead. It is inside some pots from Pennsylvania.
Spotted lanternflies are not from Oregon. They live in China, India, Vietnam, and other parts of East Asia. They travel to several eastern states of the U.S.
Spotted lanternflies can be dangerous for Oregon plants. They can hurt grapes, apples, pears, cherries, and hops.
Spotted lanternflies are easy to see. They have red wings. They have a yellow stomach with black stripes.
