Multnomah County Library offers sidewalk services

By Jazmine Weaver

(JUNE 6, 2020) Multnomah County Library will start to open again on June 8. The libraries have been closed since March 13 because of COVID-19. The libraries will open some sidewalk services for getting and returning books.

Books that are returned will be put into quarantine. That means that no one will touch them for 3 days. This is enough time for any harmful germs to die off.

Appointments are required to pick up books. Libraries will offer 12 appointments for each hour that they are open. This helps them to support social distancing.

Some libraries open June 8. Others open later this month. The Albina Library, for example, is moving to a bigger building. It won’t open until July.

If you want to call to reserve a book or see when your local library is opening, visit the library website or call 503-988-5123.
