Schools and colleges remain online through June

(APRIL 10, 2020) The coronavirus originally closed Oregon schools and colleges in March. Now the state of Oregon gave a new order. Schools and colleges will stay closed through the end of the school year in June.

"This decision is important because it is about safety," said Governor Kate Brown. The state wants people to stay home in order to stay healthy and save lives.

Students will study online. Schools are trying new ways of "remote learning." However, this is not easy because many families have no computers or internet. Parents are finding it difficult to balance work and family.

Schools in Washington and Idaho are also closed for the school year.
